The Daycare is a sprawling building where all the littles and some of the middles of the system spend most of their time. The building is rather open concept in design, with toys, tables and chairs, books, and electronics everywhere. There are different sections delineated by changes in the color of the flooring and wallpaper, some of which have magical 'barriers' that dampen sound and can dampen incoming lightsources. Some of these areas are for sleeping, others are to allow littles and middles to spend time in the same building without getting on each other's nerves too much.
The Daycare is staffed by a small army of caretakers, who all tend to trade off sections so that all of the kids are attended to and the Caretakers are able to have time off or in less stressful sections. The Caretaker staff are assisted by volunteers from other layers, who come in for a day or two at a time to help with the children and make sure the Caretakers are supported.
Function
The Daycare is our center for re-parenting our littles and middles. The majority of the littles and middles in the Daycare are holders of trauma or stress of some kind, and need the additional support of the Caretakers to feel safe. Due to the additional need for safety from these members, a lot of the volunteers who work with the Daycare attendants are protectors, as they're often very skilled in providing a sense of safety.
