Important Connections:
The Great Plains is a wide open expanse of open grass over rolling hills, crisscrossed by a pair of rivers and dotted with trees. The Great Plains are connected to the Old Brick City by an elevator approximately near the center of the layer which used to be the only form of travel between the two layers; it's now depreciated as most folks have begun to use the roadways between layers created by Manor House and her allies. There are buildings scattered across the layer, acting as the homes of the residents as well as places for them to hang out. Far to the east is an ocean, most of which is cut off by the edge of the layer.
The majority of the Great Plains appears to be based on minecraft, specifically as viewed through shaders. It has a tendency to shift between looking more like minecraft and looking more cartoony, and it's noted that the longer anyone stays in this layer the 'softer' their appearance will get.
Front Room
The Great Plains front room is in their meeting hall, to the northeast. The meeting hall is modelled off the town hall from Hermitcraft season 7, being a large resplendant building made of wood and granite. The inside houses a number of rooms for different purposes, but one of the central rooms, housed behind a nether portal, is a large office that the members of the Great Plains front from.
The front room for the Great Plains appears to be a large, spacious office, with a semi-curved wooden desk in the middle on a bright red rug with an older, chunky monitor and computer setup, acting as the interface for front. The sides of the room have a number of random things sitting around, like a dog bed, food bowl, and bone for the residents' pets and an old wheelchair and a couple of seats for the often-present co-fronters. It's not uncommon to walk into this front room and find that random objects have been left behind or removed by various members; the room gets a fair amount of through-traffic, as folks pop by regularly to check up on how the front is doing and find out if there's anything they can do to assist the rest of the system, often taking and leaving things as they do so.
Function
The members of the Great Plains, who refer to themselves as the Frayed Knots, act as "pillars" of emotional support for the other layers by using their collective unconscious to create infrastructure to help keep the system as stable as possible. The efforts they go to have helped to improve the communication between layers and stop the system from fully melting down in times of great stress.
In more recent times, the members of the Great Plains have shifted to making their home as welcoming and relaxing as possible, converting it into something of a "tourist destination" for the system. Under the leadership of one Mumbo Jumbo, the Frayed Knots have begun building great structures for housing guests and running small, fun events, like concerts and parties. Others have turned to making little "danger rooms" that folks can go in to experience something scary in a safe environment, utilizing the mobs of minecraft in their operations.
